Destination Greece Wedding

I was so lucky to be asked to be on of my best friend’s destination Greece wedding photographer. Bella, Andy and I have been friends for years, we met through mutual friends and have had each other’s back since. Bella is also a photographer and comes with me to weddings to second shoot with me so you may have seen her.

They decided to get married with their nearest and dearest in Ialysos, Rhodes Greece on the 8th May 2025. Bella and Andy got engaged in Corfu in Greece on the 23rd July 2022 on the beach which didn’t have anyone on it after a spectacular private boat trip. Luckily Andy didn’t drop the ring when swimming to shore!

They found it very hard making the decision to have the wedding in Greece, they were concerned that it would be too expensive for friends and family members. However, their closest people made it work and it was the most amazing week. We arrived a few days before the wedding and spent the days leading up to the celebration getting to know everyone with cocktails on the beach. What more could you ask for!

8th May 2025

I joined Bella with her mum and our two best friends in the morning to get all dolled up. Good job no one was taking photos of me, half dressed while taking photos. The vibes were high, the sun was shining and the excitement was increasing. I popped out once Bella had finished her make up to go say hi to the groom, Andy. Goodness me he was looking dapper, the smile on his face said everything. You just knew this was going to be the best day of his life!

The bride and groom are vegan and wanted to incorporate this as much as possible into their day. The Greek wedding venue, Goji Vegan hotel was the perfect way to do this. The ceremony area was all set up on the terrace ready for a celebrant style service conducted by our good friend Tom. It was such a gorgeous half an hour, blessing were read out from guest and there was plenty of happy tears all round. Confetti was thrown as they walked down the aisle and straight downstairs for a Coeno cocktail.

Coeno is the last name Bella and Andy have decided to choose, its a mix of both their last names, Cook and Bean. It means belonging to or shared by two or more people. This name perfectly represents the bond they are forming together and creates a new chapter for their future together.

We jumped into some group photos straight after the ceremony. I managed to set my camera up on a timer so I could run along the side of the pool and get in the photo. The afternoon was so relaxing, we ate some nachos and wandered down to the beach to have some drinks. I was so nervous to do the couple portraits. I have no idea why, I think because they are my good friends therefore it was extra pressure to get it right. I put my brave creative hat on, took a sip of my espresso martini and we walked along the beach and thought the town back to the Goji vegan hotel. We stopped at a gorgeous Greek building with the most beautiful stained glass window where the colours matched their wedding attire so well. We also found a fun building with different coloured umbrellas. You know me, wherever there is colour, I will find it!

The dinner was amazing, the pool was lit up as the sun was going down, there was a pianist and they had almost run out of the Coeno cocktail. Speeches made me cry so much, cake was cut and the couple did their first dance under the twinkly fairy lights on the tree. I took some photographs of the dancing and then Andy, the groom wanted to take some so I handed over my camera and he got some fun ones, with me in.

I could write forever about this Greek wedding, I have had to stop myself because this blog is WAY too long! It was very strange being a part of the wedding whilst also photographing it. I would never admit it to them but I was very nervous to do it, however it turned out absolutely fine and I managed to get some epic shots! Thank you Bella and Andy for having me as your destination Greece wedding photographer!
