How to choose your wedding photographer

Are you overwhelmed by the amount of wedding photographers there are? Are you struggling to know who to choose? I get it, there are so many wedding photographers, it is very hard to know who will suit you.

First of all, you want to focus on understanding what kind of person your wedding photographer is and what is their style of photography. Do they share the same interests as you? Do you like their wedding photography style? What is their personality? Are they fun, like minded, chilled out, and easy to get along with? Personally, I think this is the most important thing to understand when looking for a wedding photographer is their personality. It is so important that you get on with them because then you will enjoy your photos been taken and you will laugh and smile and cry. All of these emotions make the best wedding photos!

The second thing to think about is what is your budget is, this will help massively. There are so many wedding photographers out there who just know how to use a camera, therefore charge super cheap. If you want to have photos that capture emotion, personalities and enjoyment then you want to have a bigger budget so you can afford a wedding photographer that not only knows how to use their camera but knows how to interact with their couple and their guests to capture those moments.

Right, I am ready to find my perfect wedding photographer what do I do now? Speak to them or even better, meet up with them! The best way to learn if they are your dream wedding photographer is to get to know them. Where will I find them? Go to wedding fairs, search Google, follow them on Instagram or Facebook or ask your other suppliers for recommendations.

Things to look out for when choosing your wedding photographer. Are they local to the venue? You may get caught out and have to stretch your budget if your photographer has to travel a long way. Make sure they have insurance and make sure they have a backup plan if they can’t make it or if their camera gear fails.
