Tiggy and John’s Bath Abbey Spring wedding

I couldn’t believe it when Tiggy and John asked me to be their Bath Abbey Wedding Photographer. I have lived in Bath for two years and never had the opportunity until now to photograph a wedding in this spectacular venue. Bath, the home to the Royal Crescent, Roman Baths and the Jane Austen Centre how could you want to get married anywhere else! From the eye of a photographer in the Spring, Bath has an array of opportunities for photographs.

About Bath

Bath is such idyllic and elegant city full of tradition and heritage. The city is painted with buildings created from Bath stone, making it this romantic setting. Bath is famous for being the Roman spa town, but it has its own quirky features such as independent villages within, like Larkhall and Chelsea Road. As well as being the home to the Royal Crescent and the Circus, Bath is a very happening place in terms of comedy shows, music events and festivals throughout the year.

Tiggy and John’s wedding day at Bath Abbey

I met Tiggy at her friend’s air b&b on Great Pultney Street where her and her bridesmaids got ready for the day. Tiggy was wearing her short, bouncy, curly hair down and had the most beautiful two-piece top and skirt. Once she was ready, we walked through the busy town meeting her children and family on the way and lined up outside the Bath Abbey ready to walk down the long aisle.

John was waiting in the centre of the grand Bath Abbey looking super smart with his family and children. The Bath Abbey is so big, I felt like a small speck within the grand pillars and walls of the Abbey. A moment of stillness and nerves struck before the big wooden doors opened and Tiggy was standing there, the light beaming in as if she was an angel. The ceremony was spectacular, with some wonderful words spoken from the Vicar and some music played by the band.

Tiggy and John said their vows and left the Bath Abbey walking through a line of confetti outside. I found this so funny because I turned around and there were hundreds of Bath tourists with their cameras over my shoulder trying to capture what I was. This was the most I have ever felt like a paparazzi to a celebrity couple, it was great!

Tiggy, John and their family had a busy day ahead planned. They took a private boat ride from Pultney Weir all the way along the River Avon to the Boathouse restaurant. It was here they celebrated with drinks and a delicious wedding breakfast. Once the party had ended here, we took a coach to Larkhall where Tiggy and John invited plenty more guests to help them start their evening celebrations at Oriel Hall. This consisted of a fish and chip van, speeches and dancing into the early hours of the night.

I am so lucky to have been this couple’s Bath Abbey Wedding Photographer and can now add it to my list of epic venues! If you like what you see, please do get in touch via the form bellow, I would love to hear your plans for your wedding photography!
